Ronnie Bromhead started playing the Pipes when he was about 8/9 years old and joined the Scots Guards at the age of 17. During basic training he attended the Guards Depot Piping School and in 1984 won the English, Scottish, British, European and World Pipe Band Championships with the school in grade 3. He then joined the Pipes and Drums of the 1st Bn. Scots Guards (grade 1) and later played inside Buckingham Palace at State Banquets for the King of Saudi Arabia and again for the Emir of Qatar.... in 1985 and 89 he performed at the Edinburgh Tattoo:

During his career Ronnie has toured many countries with a Scots Guards including Australia and Thailand and left the band as Pipe Sergeant. Since then he has, as a civilian, been Pipe Major for the Loreley Tattoo, Schalke Tattoo, (both in Germany) Pipe major for 2 years with the "Musikschau Schottland"; at the time the biggest indoor Scotland show in the world. He currently Pipe Major for the Sankt Gallen Tattoo in Switzerland. Apart from his many performances he conducted workshops in Germany, Holland, Switzerland, USA and Malaysia and has his own private piping school (Lohheide Piping School) In Germany.
