About This Work

The last movement of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's ‘Sonata in A Major' is popularly known as ‘Rondo Alla Turca - Turkish March' and is one of his best-know piano pieces. The movement, which quickly alternates between minor and major keys, features a "Turkish" drone in the second section and stylizes Turkish military music. Full of march rhythms and effects this was quite the vogue in Mozart's day.

This exciting arrangement by Geoff Kingston for Brass Quintet retains all the character of the original work while offering a new perspective on a tried a tested work. Playable by groups of all grades this is a great piece to open your next recital.
