"Gesü Bambino" (The Infant Jesus) is an Italian Christmas Carol composed by Pietro Yon. Although a virtuoso organist and prolific composer whose works include an oratorio, nearly two dozen masses and many smaller works for keyboard his best known work by far is "Gesü Bambino", composed in 1927. It is interesting to note that the traditional Christmas song "I Saw Three Ships" derives its melody from "Gesu Bambino," though the former is a simpler version of the tune. The lyrics of the chorus are also the same as the lyrics in the chorus of "O Come All Ye Faithful" - (Adeste Fidelis).
Arranged for Concert Band by Geoff Kingston this much loved pastoral melody makes a lovely interlude during your Christmas concert.
