“Skyward Ho!” composed by Brian Daniels, is a Concert March arranged from a longer piece, written as a sound track of a film clip to commemorate 100 years of Royal Naval Aviation.
Eclectic in style the work illustrates the trials and challenges of getting airborne in different but determined ways - but always optimistic. The end of the piece is an ebullient and embellished recapitulation signifying the achievements made over the years.
The link with the sea is always there from the tiny reminder of 'HMS Pinafore' in the main recurrent subject!
