About This Work
The popular Christmas carol ‘We Wish you a Merry Christmas’ has been used as the basis of a fugal exposition before now, but in ‘Fantasia on a Christmas Greeting’ it takes the form of a fully extended fugue, using many traditional devices common to 18th Century counterpoint. All sections of the band have an interesting part to play, and the work features a small brass ensemble and a small woodwind ensemble – to play aside from the band or within it. This new and innovative score is an exciting addition to the Yuletide repertoire and will prove to be entertaining for your band and audience.
