ABOUT THIS WORK This arrangement of part of two movements from the Brandenburg Concertos was scored by Roger Tomlinson  in 1992 for the last British Military Tattoo held in Berlin. The Berlin Wall had been demolished, the people of the divided city had been reunited, and the former capital of Germany had been restored. The Brandenburg Gate was constructed in 1791 as a sign of peace, and its restoration to the centre of Berlin became a symbol of a reunited nation.

It was therefore appropriate to compile a challenging piece of music, based on the work of J S Bach, for the massed military bands to perform as a feature item at ‘The Last Tattoo in Berlin’ in celebration of the reunification of the former East and West Berlins. This is a real tour de force and demanding for all sections of the band. A valuable addition to the repertoire and one that is hugely enjoyable to play and will delight your audience with its instrumental pyrotechnics.
