| ABOUT THIS WORK | The opening theme to Rossini’s Overture ‘The Thievish Magpie’ has been the Regimental Slow March of the Army Air Corps since 1957. The Band of the Army Air Corps, based at the School of Army Aviation in Middle Wallop, was formed during 1993. For its first official engagement, held on the 10th May 1994 when their Colonel-in-Chief the Prince of Wales presented the Army Air Corps with its new Guidon, the bands founding Director of Music, the then Captain Geoff Kingston, rescored the march and other regimental music for the parade; this was to be the first time that the newly formed band had paraded at its full-established strength. Although the Regiments official Slow March this work is an ideal processional or parade march. |
