| ABOUT THIS WORK | In1883 Isaac Manuel Francisco Albéniz met the teacher and composer Felipe Pedrell who inspired him to write Spanish music such as the Suite Española, Op.47. The fifth movement of this suite, called Asturias (Leyenda) is probably the most famous within the repertoire for classical guitar, even though it was originally composed for piano and later transcribed for guitar by Francisco Tárrega. George Pollen has arranged Asturias (Leyenda) for Concert Wind Band, capturing all the vibrancy and vitality of this dynamic work. This is a well-crafted arrangement, which your band will find challenging and fun to play. |
