About this work:

Known as the ‘March King’ John Philip Sousa was also prolific composer of other musical genres including waltzes, overtures and operatic works. Here is one of his descriptive pieces depicting the chariot race from Ben Hur. Transcribed from Sousa’s original band parts Geoff Kingston has orchestrated ‘The Chariot Race’ for modern concert wind band. Challenging and great fun to play this is a valuable addition to the concert repertoire.
