' I Vow To Thee My Country' was adapted by Gustav Holst from a section of 'Jupiter' in his orchestral suit 'The Planets'. The resulting hymn, (Words by Cecil A. Spring-Rice) usually referred to as 'Thaxted', was first performed in 1925 and is commonly used during weddings and memorial services. Diana, Princess of Wales, requested this hymn be sung at her wedding, saying it had "always been a favourite since schooldays." It was also sung at her funeral in 1997.
By popular request this famous hymn has been scored for Concert Band by Geoff Kingston. Ideal for congredational singing or for band alone. Also available for Brass Quintet.
