About This Work
"Sweet Caroline" written and performed by Neil Diamond was officially released as a single on September 16, 1969. It later reached No.8 in the UK singles chart in 1971. The inspiration for the song was President John F Kennedy's daughter Caroline, who was eleven year old at the time. Neil sang the song to her on her fiftieth birthday in 2007.
"Sweet Caroline" is also popular at many American sporting events and often performed in many Major League Baseball stadiums.
