About This Work
There seems to be a natural affinity with folk songs and concert bands, the two mediums appear ideally suited.
The three counties represented in this short suite, arranged by Philip Andrews, are from:
1. Sussex - The Maid of Islington
2. Essex - Bushes and Briars
3. Norfolk - Ward, The Pirate
All three are fine examples of the simplicity of the folksongs being very distinctive, each one having its own characteristic:
These songs will be enjoyable for the players, and a delightful set of pieces for audiences to take pleasure from, adding contrast to the more exuberant items in a programme.
