About This Work
‘Sonore Festivo’’ is a new work composed and arranged for Concert Band by Ian Macpherson. As the title suggests ‘Sonore Festivo’ is a work that exudes passion and powerful sonorities whilst creating a sense of Festive occasion. With a plethora of odd time signatures, fanfares and pyramids adding excitement, the middle section has an almost Wagnerian sonority building to a powerful majestic climax. With a fanfare and recapitulation of the middle section ‘Sonore Festivo’ using its emphasis throughout the work on rhythm brings the work to an exciting conclusion.
This high impact work makes an ideal concert opener or overture and will enthral your audience with its energy and shear power and emotion.
