About This Work
‘The Gondoliers’ was the twelfth opera written together by Gilbert and Sullivan and opened on December 7, 1889 at the Savoy Theatre, Running for 554 performances, this was the last of the G&S operas that would achieve wide popularity. Its lilting score contains many of his most memorable melodies including ‘A Regular Royal Queen’.
