‘Funiculi Funicular’ was written in 1880 by journalist Peppino Turco and set to music by Luigi Denza to commemorate the opening of a funicular railway up Mount Vesuvius. Although composed in a few hours the song met with international success and remains popular today, despite the funicular being put out of service by the 1906 and 1944 eruptions.
Arranged for concert band by Philip Andrews this infectious, bouncy, melody stands the test of time and is an ideal concert opener or encore. A must for the ‘extras’ bag!
