“The Bartered Bride” a comic opera in three acts, was composed during 1863–66 by the Czech composer Bedřich Smetana. Set in a country village, with recognizable characters from everyday life, it tells the story of true love prevailing. “March and Dance of the Comedians" was added later to introduce the strolling players.
Arranged by Geoff Kingston, the full version of this sparkling score is now available for Concert Band. Full of vivacious energy and freely arranged this is a real tour de force and will have your players and audience on the edge of their seats. Florid woodwinds and brass fanfares combine to make a musical spectacle that is entirely suitable as a concert finale.
