‘Front Parade’, composed by Geoff Kingston under the title ‘Staffordshire Yeomanry’ won the Commandant’s prize for the ‘Best Student Bandmasters Quick March’ at the Royal Military School of Music, Kneller Hall, in 1979. Revised in 1999 whilst he was Director of Music for the Royal Artillery Band it was performed during the Regiments ‘Sunset Ceremony’ on Horse Guards Parade, London, in 1998. Sir Peter Maxwell Davies, Master of the Queen’s Music, chose it as one of his eight recordings for the BBC Radio 4 programme 'Desert Island Discs' broadcast on Sunday 20 January 2005. This lively and engaging march this is ideal as a concert opener or on parade.
