‘The Carnival of Venice’, is a folk tune popularly associated with the words "My hat, it has three corners." Many variations on the theme have been written, most notably those by Jean-Baptiste Arban and Herbert L. Clarke. This arrangement by Alan Catherall was made for David Childs, the virtuoso Euphonium player, and transcribed for concert band by Geoff Kingston for ‘Youth in Concert’ held in the Festival Hall in 2000. This virtuoso setting demands extensive technical mastery, dexterity and above all a sense of humor. Available for Bb Cornet and Euphonium this is a great instrumental showcase.
