About This Work
The "Humoresque" for Oboe and Piano is one of two Fantasy Pieces Op.2 composed by the Danish composer Carl Nielsen. By popular request, Geoff Kingston has arranged this for Solo Oboe and Concert Band. This delightful piece makes an ideal encore or a short feature. Full of charm this is another valuable addition to the Oboe/Concert Band repertoire.
The principal post-Romantic Danish composer, Carl Nielsen, was born in 1865, the son of a painter and village musician. Childhood experience as an amateur performer led to subsidised study at the Copenhagen Conservatory and a long career during which he developed his own personal style of composition, in particular in a series of important symphonies.
